Case Study
Piedmont Virginia Community College
When PVCC added a new facility to house a theatre, art galleries, and the performing arts departments they contacted AB Design to develop a comprehensive signage package. The signage designed quickly introduces users (including faculty, students and the general public) to the layout of the building, as the main entrance is on the third level.
Signs near the main entrance, elevator and stairwells identify the descending layout of the building through the use of 3-dimensional maps, directories and directionals.
After implementation, AB Design was asked to develop an exterior campus wayfinding system to identify buildings and parking lots and provide directional information for pedestrian & vehicular traffic. The project included design of a sign system, renumbering the parking lots in a logical sequence in relationship to the main entrance and the development of a color code to reinforce lot recognition.
Both interior and exterior systems work very well according to client’s comments.
We have been requested to apply the interior signage system to an existing building currently under renovation. |
